Claire Goose talks about her ideas for using Your Year in a Nutshell.

There are times - maybe you're expecting a baby, going on holiday, moving house or looking back over another year - when you might wish you'd kept accurate records as you went, with dates, pictures and video.

You might wish you could remember how you were feeling at the time, who said what, all the little details you might otherwise forget - a bit like having a diary or journal that didn't make you feel guilty every time you looked at an empty page.

Your Year in a Nutshell is perfect for archiving your year, following our diary-style format. You choose the sub-titles - maybe a date or your holiday destination - record your entry, upload any pictures and bingo! your record is saved. You can make entries as and when you wish, and can always edit later.

start recording

You don’t have to do it every day, but you can use this Nutshell however you wish, with pictures, sound, documents and video – you can give them captions as well - to illustrate any event.

Maybe record a whole holiday, or just have a late-night private moan about someone at work, or start a family newsletter to share with family overseas at Christmas.

Even use it to store copies of important documents, contact numbers and your itinerary before you go travelling, and then upload your pictures with descriptions of places you visit as you go – just in case you drop your camera in the sea after one Sangria too many.

And if you do want to share any files, there’s a simple, secure way to give other people access, by an email invitation to view. Otherwise everything stays safe and private for your eyes only!

We enjoy keeping a family record of what we do during the year, with lots of pictures and video.

At the end of the year we send out a kind of email newsletter to friends and relatives all over the world.
