Your Wishes in a Nutshell

Great, well done, you’ve taken that first step and decided to make a will.  That will deal with the major important stuff, like the house, the children, the major financial inheritance etc.  BUT does it tell your family where you want your funeral?  What hymns or songs you would want? Do they even know the song you’re on about?  Do they know all your friends and would they know how to contact them?  Do they know that you want the necklace with the little fairy on to be given to your niece Ellen because she’s loved it since she was a toddler?  Or the signed rugby ball should go to your grandson John because he worships Jonny Wilkinson?

These are just some of the things that are not covered by a will but are of huge importance at what will already be a very upsetting and stressful time for your family.  Families can be torn apart when making decisions about funerals and possessions after a death. 

Also, a Will only covers what happens in the event of your death.  What if you are seriously injured or have a serious illness and become incapacitated?  What would you want to happen then?  Do your family know whether you would want to live with them, in your own home or somewhere else?
