Claire Goose talks about her ideas for using Your Money in a Nutshell.

Some people are naturally very organised, and keep their finances in strict order, as well as regularly updating ongoing household budgets. They file policy documents and contact details somewhere safe and regularly examine their household expenditure.

But most of us have to admit that, much as we may mean to bring everything into some sort of order - especially in the current economic climate - we may not know where to start.

With Your Money in a Nutshell, it’s easy.

start organising

With many years’ high-level experience in financial services we believe we have covered just about every conceivable asset or liability, income and expenditure you might need to record (although if you know differently, just let us know!).

We have listed them all with space for you to fill in contact and account details and amounts paid in and out, whether regular or occasional.

And these amounts automatically populate an interactive 3-month or 12-month budget forecast. So you can visit regularly and see in advance whether you need to alter your spending to counter changes in rates, to cover one-off expenses such as family weddings or holidays, and all-in-all, make managing your financial affairs much simpler.

These records are completely private and secure, and only you have access to your heavily encrypted, password-protected records. So should something unforeseen happen to your home PC or filing cabinet, your Nutshell records will survive all that and you can access them from another PC should you need to.

Finally, we also suggest you lodge your access details with someone trusted, or with your Will, just in case of accident or worse to make life much easier for those left managing your affairs.

Recording our financial records in our Nutshell has made us much happier now they're all in one place.

We can also watch our budget over the coming year and manage any extra spending well in advance.
