I started filling in the answers to the questions for something to do, really, on a rainy day. It felt like being interviewed at first, which made it much easier to get going.
The more I filled in the more I remembered quite small things, places I used to live with my late wife, people we'd gone on holiday with, things I remembered about my own grandparents and parents - I don't suppose I've ever told anyone else half of it, it's not always the sort of thing that comes up in conversation but some of it's actually quite interesting, looking back.
And it's lovely being reminded of all the good things about your partner, we were married for forty years and she was always my best friend - she'd have enjoyed this herself, actually. She always enjoyed a good old natter.
It made me look back through the old photographs, I found someone who showed me how to scan them onto my PC which wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, I was even able to scan in things like copies of our marriage certificate and wedding day menu, and some of the old ration books and wartime documents and photos that are still in amongst my treasures from my family archives.
And now when Ben, my grandson, comes to visit, he spends hours looking at all the pictures and listening to the songs that I uploaded in there, one day he'll be old enough to read it properly but for now he just likes pointing at everyone and asking 'Who's that? Who's that?' It's lovely really - it's part of his inheritance too I suppose.
It's easy to think you'll live forever when you're young.
But now we have a growing family, we realise it's vital to put our affairs in order; if one of us is taken ill, the other will know where everything is and what to do.
But my grandchildren have been interviewing me on their phones and on video, and now they've recorded my memories in a Nutshell - I can't wait to see it.
Lots of things are hard to talk about - at any age.
But now we've recorded our last wishes we can get on with enjoying retirement together, knowing that those left behind will have greater peace of mind.
